Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, Rowan Knight is a nonbinary screenwriter based in L.A. and a recent fellow at the American Film Institute, class of 2026. They hold a B.A. in Film and Media Studies from Colorado College where their thesis film “Spirit Day” played to a strong festival run including NewFilmmakers Los Angeles and Filmland: Arkansas. Knight also studied sketch writing and improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade and specializes in writing queer stories with a supernatural twist. In addition to screenwriting, Knight is a musician and songwriter with their Americana project, Boot Cut. In their free time, Knight is an avid hiker and camper. Knight is always down to discuss why Twilight: New Moon has the best shot in cinematic history or why their trans cat Thomas is the best.
